Benefit Gala for Hernando Children
Southern Pediatric Therapy will be hosting the First Annual Benefit Gala for Hernando Children this March! Join us on Saturday, March 29, 2025, for an elegant Night on the Red Carpet as we come together to support our community’s children and families. Proceeds will go to Hernando Parks & Recreation to equip a Hernando park with adaptive playground equipment, making a lasting impact for all Hernando children.
We’re proud to be partnering with local businesses and community leaders, including Mrs. Hippie Eats, DeSoto Family Dental Care, The Gatorade Fieldhouse, City Hall Cheesecake, Williams, Pitts & Beard, PLLC, and Studio 139. The evening will feature a red carpet entrance with professional photo op, live band & dancing, gala dinner and drinks, as well as a silent auction and exciting announcement! DeSoto Pediatric Extended Care is a Prescribed Extended Care (PPEC) that provides skille dnursing care and therapies to medically fragile and/or technology-dependent children, infancy to age 21 , for up to 10 hours a day. DeSoto Pediatric Extended Care is located in Southaven, MS, and proudly cares for children in DeSoto and surrounding coutnies. If your child attends school, we will work with the school system to make sure all services available are received.
Our loving staff treats each child with respect and provides daily skilled pediatric nursing care along with physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy in a fun and interactive environment. Mrs. Hippie Eats is a gourmet grab and go restaurant. They have their fridges and freezers stocked daily with fresh, from scratch delicacies like salads, soups, casseroles, Italian and Mediterranean inspired dishes as well as their spin on classic southern favorites.
Chef Heather Bugg Ries began her culinary journey in Memphis in 1999, attending a French culinary institute in Houston for pastry. She has worked in prestigious kitchens, including the Biltmore Estate, Aubergine, the Inn at Hunt Phelan, Wally Joe, and Yaya’s in Memphis, and has cooked at the James Bard House in New York City. After staging under a top pastry chef in Detroit, she became a private chef for Mike and Debbi Rose in Memphis for several years. In 2010, following the birth of her triplets, Heather founded the award-winning LadyBugg Bakery, which operated in Hernando for 10 years and was voted “Best Bakery in DeSoto County” for nearly a decade. Heather was also named “Best Chef in DeSoto County” in 2016. After selling the bakery in 2020 and taking a year off, she launched Mrs. Hippie Eats, offering a dynamic menu that reflects her 20+ years in the culinary industry.
